From the Editors: The Work of Students
When the team of Editorial representatives looked at an issue concept for Direction, consensus was reached around the publication of outstanding papers by Mennonite Brethren students or students at Mennonite Brethren schools.
Papers were recommended by a number of schools and individuals with the ensuing collection. Our students continue to seek knowledge from scripture, history, and other disciplines. It is encouraging to read and to profit from their work. We look forward to other issues in which student work is featured.
During this year, we were also made aware of a rare historical find, the only two extant letters by Heinrich Huebert, the first Mennonite Brethren elder. We are pleased to publish an English translation of these two letters courtesy of John B. Toews from Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Our apologies for the late publication of this issue, partly due to difficulty in securing the papers as well as overload on the editor’s desk.
The Fall edition of Direction is dedicated as a tribute issue to Dr. Elmer Martens, Professor Emeritus of Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary.
Beginning with the 1997 issues, Dr. Doug Miller will be the new Editor of Direction. He is an Assistant Professor of Biblical and Religious Studies at Tabor College. The new Managing Editor beginning with the Spring 1996 issue is Marilyn Hudson, Manager of Kindred Productions.
